A body freely falling from a certain height 'h' , after striking a smooth floor rebounds and h rises to a height h /2 . What is the coefficient of restitution between the floor and the body ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given that , `h_(1)=handh_(2)=(h)/(2)`
We know that coefficient of restitution .
`e=sqrt((h_(2))/(h_(1)))=sqrt(((h)/(2))/(h))=(1)/(sqrt(2))`
`therefore` Coefficient of restitution , `e=(1)/(sqrt(2))`
