Length,diameter and specific resistance ...

Length, diameter and specific resistance of two wires of different materials are each in the ratio `2:1`.One of the wires has a resistance of 10 ohm. Find the resistance of the other wire.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`R=rho1/A=rho1/(pid^2//4)`
Now, for the two wires,
`R_1/R_2=rho_1/rho_2.l_1/l_2(d_2/d_1)^2=2/1times2/1times(1/2)^2=1`
Hence,if one of the wires has a resistance of `10 Omega`, the resistance of the other wire must be `10 Omega`.
