A wire of resistance R is stretched till its length becomes n times its original length. What will be its new resistance?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`R=rho1/A` If the length is increased n times to nl, the area of cross section decreases from A to `A/n`.
`therefore` New resistance `=rho(nl)/(A/n)=n^2rhol/A=n^2A`
