A bullet is fired from the gun. The gun recoils, the kinetic energy of the recoil shall be-

A

K

B

more than K

C

less than K

D

`sqrt(K)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

After firing, the momentum of gun and bullet is same. Therefore by the relation,
`K = p^92)/(2m)`
we have, `K alpha 1/m` (as p is same)
Hence, as the mass of gun is greater, its kinetic energy will be loss.
