An engine can develop a power of 5kW. How much time it will take to lift a mass of 100 kg to a height of 80 m?
`(g=10m//s^(2))`

A

5s

B

10s

C

12s

D

16s

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Work done by the first crane = mgh `= 1000xx10xx15`
`therefore W_(1)=15xx10^(4)J`
The second crane also does the same work
i.e. `W_(1)=W_(2)=15xx10^(4)J`
But Power `=(W)/(t) " " therefore P_(1)=(W)/(t_(1))` and `P_(2)=(W)/(t_(2))`
`therefore (P_(1))/(P_(2))=(t_(2))/(t_(1))=(2)/(1)`
