A metre scale is supported on a wedge at its centre of gravity. A body of weight w is suspended from the 15 cm mark and another weight of 30 gram suspended from 71 cm mark balances it the metre scale remains perfectly horizontal. What is the weight of the body? Neglect the weight of the centre scale.

A

15 gram wt.

B

18 gram wt.

C

20 gram wt.

D

25 gram wt.

The correct Answer is:
B

C is the metre scale .
EC = CD = 50 cm
Since the meter scale is in equilibrium Moment of about C = Moment of 30 g wieght about C
` therefore w = 35 = 30 xx 21`
` therefore W = (30 xx 21)/(35)` = 18 gram weight .
Note : 18 gram and 30 gram are the mass are the masses. The weights are 18 gram weight and 30 gram weight . .
