The elecron pair density on the smaller 'N' atom is more than the larger 'P' atom. Electron donation is more for 'N' of `NH_(3)` compared to 'P' of `PH_(3)`. Therefore `PH_(3)` is a weaker Lewis base than `NH_(3)`

Asseration: The abnormality in b.pt. of NH_(3) in hydrides of N- family is due to H- bonding. Reason: The boiling point of hydrides of N- family shows the order: NH_(3)gtBiH_(3)gtSbH_(3)gtAsH_(3)gtPH_(3) .

Which of the following orders is correct? (1) SbH_(3)gt NH_(3) gt AsH_(3) gt PH_(3)-" Boiling Point" (2) NH_(3) gt PH_(3) gt AsH_(3) gt SbH_(3)-" Thermal Stability" (3) NH_(3) gt PH_(3) gt AsH_(3) gt SbH_(3) - "Basic Character" (4) NH_(3) gt PH_(3) gt AsH_(3) gt SbH_(3)- "Bond Angle"

Comparing basic strength of NH_(3), CH_(3)NH_(2) and C_(6)H_(5)NH_(2) it may be concluded that:

Compare the basic strength of following (a)NH_(3)(b)PH_(3)(c)AsH_(3)(d)SbH_(3)(e) BiH_(3)

Arrange the following in increasing order of the property indicated : (a) H_(3)PO_(3), H_(3)PO_(4), H_(3)PO_(2) (Reducing Character) (b) NH_(3), PH_(3), AsH_(3), SbH_(3), BiH_(3) (Basic Strength)

The decreasing order of melting points is NH_(3) gt (CH_(3))_(3) N gtPH_(3) .
