ABC is a right angled triangular plate o...

ABC is a right angled triangular plate of uniform thickness. The sides are such that `AB gt BC` as shown in figure. `I_(1),I_(2) and I_(3)` are moments of inertia about AB,BC and AC respectively. Then, which of the following relation is correct ?

A

`I_(1)=I_(2)=I_(3)`

B

`I_(2) gt I_(1) gt I_(3)`

C

`I_(3) lt I_(2) lt I_(1)`

D

`I_(2) gt I_(1) gt I_(2)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

For a given body, mass is same, so it will depend only on the distribution of mass about the axis
The mass is farthest from axis BC, so `I_(2)` is maximum. Mass is nearest to axis AC, so `I_(3)` is minimum.
Hence, the correct sequence will be
`I_(2) gt I_(1) gt I_(3)`

In DeltaABC , C is right angle and a perpendicular 'p' is drawn on side AB. If a, b, c are length of sides BC, CA, AB respectively then which of the following is correct?

In Delta ABC,AC=BC=7 and AB=2 If AB is extended to D such that CD=8, then which of the following is/are correct?

Consider a uniform square plate shown in the figure. I_(1), I_(2), I_(3) and I_(4) are moment of inertia of the plate about the axes 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Axes 1 and 2 are diagonals and 3 and 4 are lines passing through centre parallel to sides of the square. The moment of inertia of the plate about an axis passing through centre and perpendicular to the plane of the figure is equal to which of the followings. (a) I_(3) + I_(4) (b) I_(1) + I_(3) (c) I_(2) + I_(3) (d) (1)/(2) (I_(1) + I_(2) + I_(3) + I_(4))

For the adjoining diagram, a triangular lamina is shown the correct relation between I_(1), I_(2) & I_(3) is (I - moment of inertia)

In the figure shown, a planer body is in the shape of a rhombus ABCD: I_(1) and I_(2) are moment of inertias: about axis passing through centre and perpendicular to sides BC and DC respectively. I_(3) and I_(4) are amount of inertias about diagonal axis BD and AC respectively. Then the moment of inertia about an axis passing through centre and perpendicular tothe plane of body is given by
