Assertion : A ring and a disc of same ma...

Assertion : A ring and a disc of same mass and radius begin to roll without slipping from the top of an inclined surface at `t=0`. The ring reaches the bottom of incline in time `t_(1)` while the disc reaches the bottom in time `t_(2)`, then `t_(1) lt t_(2)`
Reason : Disc will roll down the plane with more acceleration because of its lesser value of moment of inertia.

A

If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion

B

If both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion

C

If Assertion is true but Reason is fasle

D

If Assertion is false but Reason is true

The correct Answer is:
D

`:.` As acceleration, `a= (g sin theta)/(1+(I)/(MR^(2)))`
Since, the moment of inertia of disc is lesser than that of ring. Therefore, thd disc will roll down the plane with more acceleration and hence, it will take less time. Therefore Reason is correct but Assertion is incorrect.
