An organic compound has the structure
It will give

A

cerric ammonium nitrate test

B

give brisk effervescence with sodium bicarbonate

C

it will give a characteristic colouration with neutral ferric chloride, after decarbodylation and reduction by Clemmenson's method

D

it will give Fehling's test

The correct Answer is:
B, C

The organic compound has `-CHO` group (aldehydic group) which will give Tollen's test,
Fehling's test but in the structure, `-CHO` being bnenzaldehyde type, will give only Tollen's test and not Fehling's nor Benedict's test.
The organic compound contains an `OH` group which is phenolic and not alcoholic and hence will not give ceric ammonium nitrate tesst. Being a phenolic `OH` group will give characteristic colour with neutral ferric chloride if all the functional groups apart from phenolic `OH` are reduced or removed then the characteristic test with neutal ferric chloride will donfirm such a phenolic `OH` group. The organic compound contains `-COOH` group and hence it will give brisk effervescence with `NaHCO_(3)`.
Hence choice (b) is correct (test for `COOH` group).
Choice (a) is incorrect (because `-OH` group).
Choice (d) in incorrect (Because benzaldehydic `-CHO` wil not give Fehling's test)
