The procss in which no external reducing agent is used is called auto-reduction.
When ore is heated in air, a part of the ore gets oxidised which combines with remaining sulphide to give metal.
Eg : Reduction copper glance (`Cu_(2)S)`
`2Cu_(2)S + 3O_(2) rarr 2Cu_(2)O + 2SO_(2) uarr`
`2Cu_(2)O + Cu_(2)S rarr 6 Cu + SO_(2) uarr`
