Can we measure the temperature of the object by touching it ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(I ) No, When you stand bare feet with one foot on the carpet and the other on the tiled floor, your foot on the carpet even though both the tiled floor and carpet are at the same room temperature .
(ii) It is because the tiled floor transfers the heat energy to your skin at higher rate than the carpet . So the skin is not measuring the actual temperature fo the object instead it measures the rate of heat energy transfer.
(iii) But if we place a thermometer on the tiled floor or carpet it will show the same temperature .

Can we define the temperature of a single molecule?

True or False .If false , give the correct statement: When we cool the object the temperature of the object will be increased.

Find whether the following sentences are true or false. If false correct the statement. When we cool the object the temperature of the object will be increased.

Read the following paragraph carefully and answer the following question . If the heat is exchanged between a hot and cold object, the temperature of the cold object goes on increasing due to gain of energy and the temperature of the hot object goes on decreasing due to loss of energy . The change in temperature continues till the temperatures of both the the object attain the same value . In the process, the cold object gains heat energy and the hot object lose heat energy . If the system of both the object is isolated from the environment by keeping it inside a heat resistance box ( meaning that the energy exchange takes place between the two object only), then no energy can flow from inside the box or come into the box. How will you state the principle briefly ?
