Give the equation of state for an adiabatic process.

The equation of state for an adiabatic process is given by
PV `gamma` = constant
Here `gamma` is called adiabatic exponent `( gamma = C_(p) //C_(v ))`
Which depends on the nature of the gas .
The equation implies that if the gas goes from an equilibrium state `(P_(i ) , V_(i ))` to another equilibrium state `(P_(f ) , V_(f ))` adiabatically then it satisfies the relation .
