How is skating possible on snow?

(i) While skating a person presses the snow down ward with his weight i.e., increases pressure on snow below the skates.
(ii) Dut to it the melting point of ice becomes lower & ice melts into water which acts as lubricant for skates.
(iii) As the skater crosses the snow the pressure on water is released & it is again converted into ice.
