In photoelectric effect, why should the photoelectric current increase as the intensity of monochromatic radiation as the intensity of monochromatic radiation incident on a photosenstive surface is increased ? Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) The photoelectric current incrases proportionally with the increase in intensive of incident radiation.
(ii) Larger the intensity of incident radiation, larger is the number of incident photons and hence larger is the number of electrons ejected from the photosensitive surface.
