Explain the uses of radio isotopes in medicine field.

(i) Medical applications of radio isotopes can be divided into two parts i) Diagnosis ii) Therapy Radio .
(ii) Isotopes are used as tracers to diagnose the nature of blood circulatory disorders defects of bone metabolism , to locate tumors etc.
(iii) Some of the radio isotopes which are used as tracers are: hydrogen , carbon, nitrogen, sulphur etc .
(iv) Radio sodium `(Na^(24))` is used for the effective functioning of heart.
(v) Radio-Iodine `(I^(131))` is used to cure goiter.
(vi) Radio iron is `(Fe^(59))` is used to diagnose anemia and treatment for the same.
(vii) Radio phosphorus `(P^(32))` is used in the treatment of skin diseases.
(viii) Radio-cobalt (`co^(60)`) and radio gold `(Au^(79))` are used in the treatment of skin cancer.
