Define Poisson's ratio (sigma). What is ...

Define Poisson's ratio `(sigma)`. What is the range of values of `sigma`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The ratio of lateral strain to longitudinal strain is known as poission's ratio.
i..e `sigma=((Deltar)/r)/((Deltal)/l) " "sigma=((Deltar)/(Deltal))(l/r)`
The range of `sigma` is from 0 to 0.5.
