Discuss dual nature of light....

Discuss dual nature of light.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The experiment like photoelectric effect show that light has particle properties, and diffraction also show that light has wave properties. Thus light has dual nature. It has wave as well as particle properties. This dual nature concept is observed in electrons, also.
De Brogile extended the concept of wave - particle duality to all moving particles. He proposed that every moving body is associated with a wave called 'matter wave' `therefore` This wave property is signilicaut 'in photons and moving electron but insignificant in case of larger objects. Thus, a moving electron is associated with both wave properties and particle properties. This is called 'wave -particle duality'.
