Find the equation of a line has y-interc...

Find the equation of a line has y-intercept is `-4` and is parallel to the line joining `(2,-5)a n d(1,2)dot`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `y` intercept, `c=-4`

The required line is parallel to line joining `(2,-5)` and `(1,2)`

Let `m` be the slope of the required line, then

`m=` slope of `(2,-5)` and `(1,2)`

`m=frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}=frac{2-(-5)}{1-2}=frac{7}{-1}=-7`

`therefore` the required equation of line is

`y=m x+c`
