A car is travelling at 30 km/h in a circle of radius 60 m. What is the minimum value of `mu_(s)` for the car to make the turn without skidding ?

The minimum `mu_(S)` should be that
`mu_(S) mg = (mv^(2))/(r ) " or " mu_(S) = (v^(2))/(rg)`
Hare v = 30 `(km)/(h) = (30xx1000)/(3600) = (25)/(3) `m/s
`mu_(S) = (25)/(3) xx (25)/(3) xx (1)/(60 xx 10) = 0.115`
For all values of `mu_(S)` greater than or equal to the above value, the car can make the turn without skidding. If the speed of the car is high so that minimum `mu_(S)` is greater than the standard values (rubber tyre on dry concrete `mu_(S)` = 1 and on wet concrete `mu_(S)` = 0.7), then the car will skid.
