If the rotational kinetic energy of a body is increased by 300 %, then determine percentage increase in its angular momentum.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Percentage increase in angular momentum
`=(L_(2)-L_(1))/(L_(1))xx 100`
Now, `L = sqrt(2IE)`
`therefore L prop sqrt€ rArr E_(1) = E` and `E_(2)=E+(300)/(100)E`
`rArr E_(2)=4E`
Increase in angular momentum
`= (sqrt(E_(2))-sqrt(E_(1)))/(sqrt(E_(1)))xx100 = (sqrt(4E)-sqrt(E ))/(sqrt(E ))xx100 = 100%`
