The correct Answer is:
B

I. Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen atoms in a continous framework of `SiO_4`, silicon oxygen tetrahedra, with each oxygen being shared between two tetrahedra, giving overall chemical formula of `SiO_2`. Some types of quartz crystals have piezoelectric properties. They develop an electric potential upon the application of mechanical stress.
Hence, statement (i) is icrrect.
II. All group 14 tetrahloride except `C""Cl_4` are easily hydrolsed by water. It is because of non-availability of vacant d-orbitals and steric crowding due to presence of flour Cl-atoms around C-atom which do not allow water molecule to approach antibonding orbitals of C--Cl bonds . Hence, statement (ii) is correct.
III. In graphite, the C--C nod distance within the layer of graphite is 141.5 pm. Hence, statement (iii) is incorrect.
IV. `SiO_2` is insoluble in aqueous HCl solution. Hence, statement (iv) is incorrect.
