The correct Answer is:
A

Answer(1) Co.efficient of linear expansion of steel, `alpha = 11 xx 10^-6/^@C`
Length, l = 1m .
Change in length, `Delta l = 0.06mm = 6 xx 10^-5m` .
`Delta l = l alpha Delta t` .
`Rightarrow Delta t = (Deltal)/(l.alpha) = (6 xx 10^-5)/(1 xx 11 xx 10^-6) = 5.45^@C`.
`therefore` Range of temperature = (25 - 5.45 to 25 + 5.45) = (19.55^@C to 30.45^@C`).
`approx 19^@C to 31^@C`.

Explain ignition temperature with an experiment.

A meter scale made up of steel read accurately at 20°c. In a sensitive experiment , distances accurate upto 0.055mm in 1m are required. Coefficient of linear expansion of steel is 11 xx 10^(-6) //^(@) C . The range of temperature in which the experiment can be performed with this meter scale is given by a xx 3^(@) C to n xx 5^(@) C . Find n.

What is the temperature for which the readings on Kelvin Fahrenheit scales are same?

A steel meter scale is to be ruled so that millimetre intervals are accurate within about 5xx10^-5 m at a certain temperature. The maximum temperture variation allowable during the ruling is (coefficient of linear expansion of steel = 10xx10^-6K^-1
