In the Millikan's oil drop method, which of the following force does not act on the oil drop?

A

Gravitational force

B

Viscous force

C

Magnetic force

D

Electrostatic force

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

In the Milikan 's oil drop method, Gravitatinal force equal to viscous force is developed for an applied velocity to the capacitor plates sandwiched with oil droplet . Electrostatic force exist due to changed droplets of oil between thte paralled plates of capacitor.
Hence, Magnetic field does not act on the oil drop.
