For the reaction with `DeltaH gt0, DeltaS_("surr")` is -ve. Again, for this reaction `DeltaS_("sys")lt0`, and hence `DeltaS_("sys")+DeltaS_("surr")lt0`, i.e., `DeltaS_("univ")lt0`. So, this reaction will be non-spontaneous. For the reaction with `DeltaH lt0, DeltaS_("surr")` is potive. again, for this reaction `DeltaS_("sys")lt0`. therefore, `DeltaS_("univ")(=DeltaS_("sys")+DeltaS_("surr"))` may be positve or negative depending on the magnitude of `DeltaS_("sys")` and `DeltaS_("surr")`. if it happens that `|DeltaS_("sys")| lt |DeltaS_("surr")|`, then the reaction will be spontaneous.
