Does the volume of a closed system remain fixed?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If the walls of a closed system are non-rigid or movable, then the volume of the system does not remain fixed. For example, a gas enclosed in a cylinder fitted with a movable piston is considered as a closed system. Here, the volume of the gas (system) can be increased or decreased by altering pressure of the gas (system).
