At a given temperature, `K_(p)` is 0.36 for the reaction, `2SO_(2)(g)+O_(2)(g)hArr2SO_(3)(g)` occurring in a closed vessel. If at equilibrium, the partial pressures of `SO_(2)(g)&O_(2)(g)` be 0.15 atm & 0.8 atm respectively, then calculate the partial pressure of `SO_(3)(g)`.

For the given reaction, `K_(p)=((p_(SO_(3)))^(2))/((p_(SO_(2)))^(2)xxp_(O_(2)))`
As given, `K_(p)=0.36,p_(SO_(2))=0.15atm and p_(O_(2))=0.8atm`.
`therefore (p_(SO_(3)))^(2)=K_(p)xx(p_(SO_(2)))^(2)xxp_(O_(2))=0.36xx(0.15)^(2)xx(0.8)`
`=6.48xx10^(-3)atm or, p_(SO_(3))=0.08atm`
Therefore, partial pressure of `SO_(30(g)` at equilibrium=0.08 atm.
