At `25^(@)C` temperature, the molar concentrations of `NH_(3),NH_(4)^(+) and OH^(-)` at equilibrium are `9.6xx10^(-3)(M),4.0xx10^(-4)(M)` and `4.0xx10^(-4)(M)` respectively. Determine the ionisation constant of `NH_(3)` at that temperature.

In aqueous solution of `NH_(3)`, the following equilibrium is established: `NH_(3)(aq)+H_(2)O(l)hArrNH_(4)^(+)+OH^(-)(aq)`
`therefore`Ionisation constant of `NH_(3),K_(b)=([NH_(4)^(+)]xx[OH^(-)])/([NH_(3)])`
As `[NH_(3)]=9.6xx10^(-3)(M)`,
`[NH_(4)^(+)]=4.0xx10^(-4)(M) and [OH^(-)]=4.0xx10^(-4)(M)`
`K_(b)=((4xx10^(-4))xx(4xx10^(-4)))/(9.6xx10^(-3))=1.67xx10^(-5)`.
