In a 0.01 (M) acetic acid solution, degree of ionisation of acetic acid is 4.2%. Determine the concentration of `H_(3)O^+` ions in that solution.

Acetic acid is a weak monobasic acid. In such a solution, `[H_(3)O^(+)]=alphac`, where, c and `alpha` are initial concentration of the acid and its degree of ionisation respectively.
As `alpha=(4.2)/(100)=4.2xx10^(-2) and c=0.01(M)`.
in 0.01(M) acetic acid solution.
`[H_(3)O^(+)]=alphac=4.2xx10^(-2)xx0.01=4.2xx10^(-4)(M)`.
