Of the two solutions of acetic acid with concentrations 0.1(N) and 0.01 (N), in which one does acetic acid have higher degree of dissociation?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Acetic acid is a weak acid. Such an acid undergoes partial ionisation in water. The degree of ionisation of a weak acid in its solution depends upon the concentration of the solution. The higher the concentration of a solution of a weak acid, the smaller is the degree of ionisation of the acid in the solution. so, the degree of ionisation of acetic acid will be higher in 0.01(N) solution.
