The pK(a) values of the three weak acids...

The `pK_(a)` values of the three weak acids HA, HB and HC are 4.74, 3.75 and 4.20, respectively. Arrange them in order their of increasing acid strengths.

As `pK_(a)=-log_(10)K_(a)`, the smaller the value of `K_(a)` means the larger the value of `pK_(a)`. So, an acid with a larger `pK_(a)` will have smaller `K_(a)`. As, `pK_(a)(HB) lt pK_(a)(HC) lt pK_(a)(HA),K_(a)(HB) gt K_(a)(HC) gt K_(a)(HA)`. Ata certain temperature, a higher value of `K_(a)` for an acid indicates a higher strength of the acid. therefore, the increasing order of acid strengths of the given acids will be -`Ha lt HC lt HB`.
