Mention two ways by which the equilibrium of the given reaction can be shifted to the right.
`CH_(3)COOH(l)+C_(2)H_(5)OH(l) overset(H^(+))hArr CH_(3)COOC_(2)H_(5)(l)+H_(2)O(l)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

According to Le chatelier's principle, the equilibrium of the above reaction cann be shifted to the right by the adding of excess reactants [i.e., `CH_(3)COOH(l) or C_(2)H_(5)OH(l)`] or by the removal of the products [i.e., `CH_(3)COOC_(2)H_(5)(l) or H_(2)O(l)`] from the reaction system at a given temperature, keeping the volume of the reaction systemm constant.
