When steam is passed over red hot iron, ...

When steam is passed over red hot iron, `H_(2)` gas is produced. In this reaction, the yield of `H_(2)(g)` is found to increase when the partial pressure of steam is increased. Explain.

Reaction: `Fe(s)+4H_(2)O(g) hArr Fe_(3)O_(4)(s)+4H_(2)(g)`
A steam is one of the reactants in the above reaction, increasing its partial pressure at equilibrium will shift the equilibrium position to the right. As a result the yield of the product i.e., `H_(2)(g)` will increase.

At 986^(@) C the value of equilibrium constant (K_c) for the reaction, CO(g)+H_2O(g)toCO_2(g)+H_2(g) is 0.63At this temperature, 1 mol of H_2O (g) is allowed to react with 3 mol of CO(g). This results in the above equilibrium in which the observed pressure is 2.0 atm. Find the number of moles of H_2 (g) produced at equilibrium and the partial pressure of each gas
