Comment on the reactions of dihydrogen with
Chlorine

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Dihydrogen reduces chlorine (CL) to chloride ion `(CL^(-))` and itself gets oxidised to form `H^(+)` ions. These two ions `(H^(+) and CL^(-))` share an electron pair between themselves to form a covalent molecule of hydrogen chloride (HCL).
`H_(2)`(g) + `CL_(2)`(g) `rarr` 2 HCL(g)
