Comment on the reactions of dihydrogen with
sodium

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Sodium reduces dihydrogen to hydride ion `(H^(-))` and itself gets oxidised to sodium ion `(Na^(+))`. In this reaction, an electron gets completely transferred from Na to H thereby forming ionic sodium hydride (NaH).
