Arrange the following: CaH(2) , BeH(2) ...

Arrange the following:
`CaH_(2) , BeH_(2)` and` "TiH"_(2)` in order of increasing electrical conductance.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Being a covalent hydride `"BeH"_(2)` does not conduct electricity at all. Being ionic hydride `"CaH"_(2)` conducts electricity in the fused state while `"TiH"_(2)`, being a metallic hydride, conducts electricity at room temperature. Thus, the order of increasing electrical conductance is: `"BeH"_(2) lt CaH_(2) lt "TiH"_(2)`.
