tert - Butyl chloride `(Me_(3)C CI)` does not participate in `S_(N)^(2)` reaction - explain with reasons.

Due to severe steric hindrance caused by three methyl groups, the backside attack on the central carbon by the nucleophile becomes completely inhibited and it is for this reason, tert - butyl chloride does not participate in `S_(N)2` reaction.
