Will C CI(4) give white precipitate of A...

Will `C CI_(4)` give white precipitate of AgCI on heating it with silver nitrate solution? Give reason for your answer.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When `C CI_(4)` is heated with `AgNO_(3)` solution, white precipitate of AgCI will not be formed. This is because `C Cif_(4)` being a covalent compound with strong C - CI bond does not ionise to give `CI^(-)` ions required for the formation of the precipitate of AgCI.
