How will you prove:
2-butene is a symmetrical alkene.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ozonolysis of any symmetrical alkene results in the formation of only carbonyl compound (2moles) .
Since 2- butene on ozonolysis , produces two moles of acetaldehyde `(CH_3CHO)` it must be a symmetrical alkene. Its structure is : `CH_3CH=CHCH_3`.
