Determination of the electromotive force...

Determination of the electromotive force of a galvanic cell. Given: Standard electrode potential of the half - cells & molar concentrations of different constituents participating in cell reaction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(1) Write the cell reaction from the half - cell reaction. (2) Write the Nernst equation for the cell reactin. (3) Determine the value of `E_("cell")^(@) (E_("cell")^(@)=E_("cathode")^(@)-E_("anode")^(@))` from the `E^(@)` values of half cells. (4) To calculate `E_("cell")`, put the values of `E_("cell")^(@)`, n and concentrations of the species into the Nernst equation.
