The standard reduction potential of meta...

The standard reduction potential of metals A, B, C, and D are `+0.80V, -0.76V, +20V and +0.38V`, respectively. Arrange the metals in increasing order of their metallic character.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Metals having lower standard reduction potential will have higher tendency to get oxidised and can act as stronger reductant and those metals have higher metallic character. The order of increasing standard reduction potential of the metals is : `BltCltDltA`. Hence the order of metallic character of the metals is : `A lt D lt C lt B`.
