Write the cathode and anode reactions fo...

Write the cathode and anode reactions for the electrolysis of aqueous `AgNO_(3)` solution in presence of Ag - electrodes.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Inpresence of Ag electrode, electrolysis of `AgNO_(3)` leads to the reduction of `Ag^(+)` ion at cathode and silver metal is oxidised at anode to form `Ag^(+)` ion in solution.
Cathode reaction : `Ag^(+)(aq)+e rarr Ag(s)`
Anode reaction : `Ag(s)rarr Ag^(+)(aq)+e`
