When `CuSO_(4)` solution is electrolysed in presence of two Cu - electrodes, what happens to the electrodes?

Text Solution

Cu - cathode gradually gains weight as `Cu^(2+)` ions are deposited on it. The Cu - anode is gradually depleted away and loses weight as Cu atom in the anode get oxidised to form `Cu^(2+)` ions.
