Which one of the following aqueous solut...

Which one of the following aqueous solutions has the highest electrical conductance ?
` 0.1 (M) ClCH_(2)COOH" "` , `0.1 (M) FCH_(2)COOH` and `F_(2)CHOOH `

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

F has more electron with drawing power than Cl . In `F_(2)CHCOOH` , the electron withdrawing effect is more pronounced due to the presence of two F - atoms .

As a result , `F_(2)CHCOOH` will produce more number of `H^(+)` ions in solution than `FCH_(2)COOH` . Similarly `FCH_(2)COOH` will produce more number of `H^(+)` ions than solution of `F_(2)CHOOH` is maximum . Hence , this solution will show the highest electrical conductivity .
