How much electricity in terms of Faraday...

How much electricity in terms of Faraday is required to produce -
20.0 g of Ca from molten `CaCl_(2)` ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The electrode reaction is : `underset("1 mol")(Ca^(2+))+underset("2 mol")(2e)rarr Ca`
Thus 1 mol of Ca(40 g) requires 2F electricity.
`therefore` 20 g of Ca requires = 1 F electricity.
