Name the substance obtained at the ...

Name the substance obtained at the cathode and at the anode when fused ICI is subjected to electrolysis.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

ICI undergoes self -ionisation to from `I^(+)` and `ICI_(2)^(-)` ions.Hence , `I_(2)` is liberated at the cathode and `I_(2)` and `CI_(2)` are both liberated at the anode.
