Boiling points of interhalogen are little higher as compared to pure halogens - why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Interhalogen `(X - X)` are polar in nature due to difference is electronegativity of the two halogen atoms. On the other hand, pure halogen molecules (X - X) are non -polar . Because of this, boiling points of interhalogens are little higher than that of pure halogens.
