Which of the following does not react with oxygen directly? Zn, Ti, Pt, Fe

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Pt is a noble metal. The sum of its first four ionisation enthalpies is very high. Hence, it does not react directly with oxygen. But, zn, Ti and Fe are active metals and hence, directly react with oxygen to form their respective oxides.
`2Zn+O_(2)overset(Delta)to2ZnO,Ti+O_(2)overset(Delta)toTiO_(2)`
`4Fe+3O_(2)overset(Delta)to2Fe_(2)O_(3)`
