What happens when sulphur dioxide is passed through an aqueous solution of Fe (III) salt?

`SO_(2)` acts as a reducing agent. When `SO_(2)` is pass through an aqueous solution of Fe(III) salt, it reduces th e Fe(III) salt to Fe(II) salt.
