Does the hydrolysis of `XeF_(6)` lead to a redox reaction?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The products obtained on the hydrolysis of `XeF_(6)` are `XeOF_(4)` and `XeO_(2)F_(2)` where the oxidation states of all the elements remain the same as it was in the reacting state. Therefore, hydrolysis of `XeF_(6)` does not lead to redox reaction.
